2010 Pricegiving and AGM Details

The prize giving function for the Munster Autocross Championship 2010 will take place in the Roundabout Tavern, Mallow on Friday, 21 January at 8pm. Tickets priced at €25 are available from Jerry Murphy on (021) 4873897.

Also the AGM of Munster Autocross Association will be held on 2nd February at 9pm in the Roundabout Tavern, Mallow. All members, competitors and anyone interested in autocross are invited to attend.

Cronin wins Munster CC Autocross!

Daniel Cronin the 2009 Munster Autocross Champion showed that he had lost none of his speed during the winter break in the championship as he scored maximum points in Round 1 of the 2010 Jerry Murphy Tyres Munster Autocross Championship. Cronin set a blistering pace and his time of 1:28.50 could not be beaten despite the best efforts of Mark Dolphin who set a time of 1:28.84. Class 1 was yet again a close affair with Ger Lynch taking the honours in his Starlet by just 2 seconds from the Civic of Victor Beamish with Conor Bradley 3rd. Class 2 saw Ian Stanley take the top spot from Owen Murphy while Gerard O' Connell was the sole entrant in class 3. James Lehane won Class 4 with Jimmy Lucey taking the class 5 honours in his Special. Mark Dolphin won class 6 for motorbike engined special and the Junior class battle was won by David Beamish with Denis Nagle 2nd. Well done to Gavin Walsh the Munster Car Club for putting together an elcellent event. The next round of the championship is set to take place in Skibbereen on the 14th February where the battle for the 2010 championship will again commence!.

The Munster Autocross which was postponed on St.Stephens Day has been re-reschduled for Jan 24, in Campbell pit, the same place as before.
This event will be the First Round of the Munster Autocross Championship 2010.

Cork Motor Club Autocross - 27-12-2009

An exceptional time on the fifth and final run gave Gerard Lucey the overall victory on Cork Motor Club's Christmas Autocross on Sunday (Dec 27, 2009)
A time of 1min 48.92secs, an improvement of over 4 seconds by the Ballyvourney driver in his Toyota Special from his previous best time, saw him snatch the victory from Joe Cullen whose JB Special had looked unbeatable up to then, having taking the overall lead on the second run. Third place overall went to Jimmy Lucey driving his Rover V8 Special.
Ballylickey's Daniel Cronin (yes, Keith's younger brother) was leading the Jerry Murphy Tyres Munster Autocross Championship going into the CMC event and did enough by finishing fifth overall to secure the Munster title.
But the drive of the event came from the young Bandon driver David Beamish who finished just two hundreds of a second behind Cronin to take sixth overall in his Corsa and also take the Junior award.
Gerard Lucey had taken an early lead when he set fastest time on Run 1, with Colin Byrne second and Mark Murphy having an excellent run to third place. At this point Joe Cullen was down in 25th spot after a slight miscalculation by him.
After the second run it was Joe Cullen who had taken the fastest time, with Gerard Lucey now second and Colin Byrne was in third place.
The third run saw Joe Cullen better his previous time with Gerard Lucey still second, but Jimmy Lucey had now moved up to take the thier place.
With the event running like clockwork and on time, a fourth run saw no change in the overall placings and no improvement in the leaders' times.
A fifth run was offered to competitors and while some thought there was no advantage to be gained, Gerard Lucey proved them all wrong, setting fastest time of the day on this run. In fact it was on this run also that David Beamish set his best time.
In the classes Colm Grant took a Class 5 win with Daniel Cronin second and Colin Byrne third. In Class 4 first was James Lehane and second was Mark Murphy, the gap just .2 of a second.
Best in Class 3 was David Long with owen Cleary second, and Trevor Harding third after managing to complete just one run. In Class 2, better known as the Murphy class, Owen took the win from father Jerry in what we believe was a first works drive for Jerry. Class 1 saw Victor Beamish take a win with Conor Brakley second and Denis Nagle in third spot. The best CMC award went to Richard Davis, while young Billy Davis took the Best Novice award. And as mentioned above, David Beamish put in an excellent performance to earily take the best Junioir award.
The event took place at Michael Cronin's Quarry, at Ightermurragh, Ladysbridge, Co. Cork, and despite the very icy conditions, had an entry of 31 competitors. As well as being the final round of the the Jerry Murphy Tyres Munster Autocross Championship it was also the opening round of Cork Motor Club's 2010 championship for drivers.

BIRR & DISTRICT MOTOR CLUB’S Loose Surface Autocross takes place on SUNDAY 29th NOVEMBER 2009 just 7miles from Roscrea , outside the village of Shinrone Co Offaly.Its taking place in a new pit, about 4 miles from the pit used last year.

Killarney Autocross Weekend 2009 (Results)

The Killarney autocross weekend 2009 was held in Mike Cronin’s Quarry, Killarney on August 1st and 2nd. The event was round 5 & 6 of the Jerry Murphy Tyres Munster autocross championship and round 3 & 4 of the Darby O’Gills Killarney autocross championship. Saturday saw the racing begin at 5pm. Fastest time of the day on Saturday went to Jerry Lehane (Subaru Impreza) with a time of 2:40:91. Class 1 was won by Ger Lynch with Denis O’ Brien 2nd and Conor Bradley 3rd. Class 2 saw Ian Stanley take the win with Andrew Lehane 2nd and Sean Sheehy 3rd. Coleman Hurley was the quickest in class 3 and John Hickey won class 4. Mike O’Connor won class 5 in his Kawasaki special. Fastest special on day 1 was Dave Fallon on a time of 2:47:90. Jacqueline Tuck won the ladies class and the junior category was won by Denis Nagle with David Beamish 2nd and Colin Nelligan 3rd. Sundays action got under way at 11am and the battle for fastest time of the day was between Jerry Lehane and Daniel Cronin and in the end Cronin came out on top by just 2 seconds. Jerry Lehane won the fastest saloon of the day. Class 1 remained unchanged on the 2nd day with Ger Lynch taking the win with Denis O’Brien 2nd and Conor Bradley 3rd. Class 2 saw Ian Stanley taking the win with Owen Murphy in the runner up position. Coleman Hurley was quickest in class 3 yet again in his Astra. David Fallon was the fastest special on day 2 with Jimmy Lucey 2nd. The Junior section on day 2 was won by David Beamish from Denis Nagle. A large crowd attended on both days to both compete and spectate and the event proved to be a huge success. Credit must go to COC Pat Russell and his team who put together a great event. Killarney Autocross Weekend 2009 (August 1st & 2nd)

August 1st & 2nd sees the second running of the Killarney and district motor club loose surface autocross weekend. the event counts as 2 rounds of the KDMC Darby O Gills championship and 2 rounds of the Jerry Murphy Tyres munster autocross championship. The event will once again be held in the Mike Cronin Readymix Quarry just outside Killarney.The venue is one of the oldest and one of the highest regarded autocross venues in the country.The COC is the vastly experienced competitor Pat Russsell,he has planned a challenging course of over 2kms which is sure to keep the drivers busy,and its also an ideal chance to give the car a run before Cork forestry.a good turn out is expected with a variety of cars from Fiats to the banging and whistling of gp A imprezas to the awesome sounding JB buggies.the event kicks off @1630 on Saturday and 11 am on sunday. regs on Kdmc website shortly and entries will be taken at the venue on both days.

Killarney Autocross 24th May 2009 - Report & Results

The Killarney & District Motor Club ran their May Autocross on the 24/5/'09 at Mike Cronins Pit, Killarney, Co-Kerry. The event was a counting round of the Munster and Killarney Autocross Championships. COC for the event Pat Russell and his team put together a very challenging route which brough praise from the competitors and spectators alike. The FTD (Fastest time of the day) went to Daniel Cronin in his Mazda Special with a time of 3:39:86. Jerry Lehane was the fastest saloon of the day in his Subaru Impreza with a time of 3:43:74. Class 1 for 1400cc cars was won by Denis O' Brien in a Vauxhall Nova with Conor Bradley 2nd and Ger Lynch 3rd. Coleman Hurley won class 3 for 2litre cars in his Opel Astra. Fastest Special went to Jimmy Lucey. The Junior category was won by Denis Nagle in a Honda Civic with David Beamish 2nd in his Nova and Colin Nelligan 3rd in his Swift. Other Prize winners included Harry Noonan (Special), ML. Walsh (Escort), ML. Sheedy (Escort), Anthony Cronin (Corolla), Clement Lonergan (Civic). Final results are available to download here . The next round of the Munster Autocross Championship will be the Clare loose surface autocross on July 19th.

Killarney Autocross 24th May 2009

The Killarney Autocross will be running on the 24th of may. Venue: Cronins pit. Racing starts at 12 noon. Its a counting round of the Jerry Murphy Tyres Munster Championship and the Darby O'Gills Killarney Championship. COC for the event is Pat Russell 087-7832934. More details to follow.

Killarney Autocross - 22nd March 2009

The first round of the Darby O’Gills Killarney Autocross Championship is set to take place on Sunday the 22nd of March. Racing is set to get underway at 12 noon with practice on at 11am. As with other years it is returning to Mike Cronin’s Pit, just off the Cork road and will be signposted on approach roads to Killarney. The Autocross is also a round of the Munster Autocross Championship which expects a good entry from all round Munster and beyond to put it up to our locals. The track is expected to be quite different to other years due to the continuous work being done in the quarry in recent times. A big entry is expected for this event, especially with the current economic climate it is seen is a cheap form of racing. All welcome to attend whether it be to compete, marshal or spectate. The other rounds of the championship are due to take place on May 24th, August 1st and 2nd, with the final round on October 18th
